Enhancing Your Wellness Routine with Cannabis 

We‘re living in an increasingly stressful world that challenges us on every level. Anything that we can do to minimize stress and induce relaxation in our daily routines can have a positive impact on our overall wellness. Humans have been using cannabis as medicine for millennia and can offer so much more than just getting high. Humans have been using cannabis as medicine for millennia and it offers so much more than just getting high.

The truth is, we can’t eliminate all of the stressors in our life, but we can work with our natural defenses against stress.  The body’s nervous system and immune system are deeply connected through our innate endocannabinoid system.  Through this network of receptors, we are literally wired to respond to the effects of cannabis.  

Wellness Routines that can be Enhanced with Cannabis:

  1. Exercise Whether you’re dealing with early morning joint-stiffness or post-workout soreness, cannabis topicals can be a great option for soothing the pain that might interfere with your movement routines.  Topicals won’t give you a typical psychoactive high, but they can help relax your body, relieve muscle spasms and pain, and help support your exercise, yoga, or other active regimens.
  1. Massage Cannabis-infused oils can be a wonderful enhancement to massage. Massage helps keep your muscles relaxed and can also help keep pain and anxiety at bay.  The addition of cannabis, with its pain-relieving properties, can be a perfect combination.
  1. Sleep Getting a good night’s sleep is so critical for mood, focus, and immune function. Unfortunately, sleep is one of the first things that we sacrifice when we’re stressed. Some cannabis strains can assist in helping with relaxation and sleep. These can be consumed through smoking, vaporizing, or in edible/tincture forms.
  1. Creativity and Mindfulness Creative expression and experiencing “flow states” are part of what gives us joy in life. We‘re all naturally creative and want to feel connected, but when we’re tense or stuck, accessing this part of ourselves is difficult, if not impossible.  The THC in cannabis can actually help us relax, and experience mindfulness, sharing, humor, and creativity. Whether you use it to enhance your formal meditation practice or to get down with your art supplies, cannabis can be an excellent addition to your creative and mindfulness practices.

Whatever your current wellness routine consists of, adding cannabis, with its relaxing and pain-relieving properties, can potentially help you expand and enhance these positive habits.  Moving beyond limiting thought patterns and behaviors is one of the many gifts that cannabis can offer humanity in our wellness journey.
